Until There Are No More Homeless Dogs and Cats

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Heidi's Hope for Homeless Animals, Inc. lifesaving animal advocacy programs is to save homeless dogs and cats in our community and keep pets out of the shelters and keep them in their homes with their families, where they belong.

Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals is a 501 ( c ) 3 organization committed to saving the lives of homeless dogs and cats and working towards a time when all dogs and cats have good homes.  Our programs are aimed at the most vulnerable and those at risk of euthanasia. We focus on many aspects that contribute to pet overpopulation.

From Homeless to a Home…that is our mission until there is a day when there are no more homeless or abused dogs and cats.  We won’t stop until every dog and cat has a good home!

OUR IMPACT

Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals is a 501 ( c ) 3 organization committed to saving the lives of homeless dogs and cats and working towards a time when all dogs and cats have good homes.  We are an intake prevention organization who helps shelters save more lives.  Our programs are aimed at the most vulnerable and those at risk of euthanasia. We focus on many aspects that attribute to pet overpopulation, including:

Decreasing owner surrenders through our Pet Food Bank by providing pet food to the most food insecure in our community. Our Pet Food Bank keeps pets with their families and out of our shelters.

Increasing save rates of homeless pets by keeping pets at home with their families and out of the shelters. The Bow Wow Luau & The Cat’s Meow® is a Night of Hope for homeless dogs and cats in our community and beyond!  Since our founding in 2009, The Bow Wow Luau & The Cat’s Meow® has saved the lives of countless homeless cats and dogs by donating over $70,000.00

Reducing the number of pets who enter the shelters in the future through our mega-adoption event, WoofStock, where we adopted 26 pets in only four hours!

Staggering Stats About Animal Homelessness

Not all dogs and cats have a home, but we sure wish they did. Sadly, every day across our nation:

  • over 922 healthy and adoptable dogs and cats are killed in shelters simply because they do not have a home

  • Tragically, NC ranks #3 in the nation for pet euthanasia of healthy and adoptable dogs and cats.

Our shelters need our community’s help!

Our Pet Food Programs

Filling Pets’ Bowls with Food and Hope

Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals believes that no pet parent should have to choose between putting food on their own table or in their pet’s bowl.  Due to the downturn in the economy, the demand for pet food has increased.

Pet Food Bank

Our Pet Food Bank provides pet food and supplies for families facing economic hardship. Our Pet Food Bank fills a void in our community. We are proud of the success of Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals’ Pet Food and Supply donation programs that has collected and donated over over 134,155 LBS. of pet food and supplies, which is over $118,312.61 in value!

Pet Meals on Wheels

Sadly, many Senior Citizens share their meals with their pets for various reasons, mostly because they can’t afford to buy pet food. In 2018, we created Heidi’s Hope for Homeless Animals’ Pet Meals On Wheels program to feed hungry pets of housebound Senior Citizens. We grew this program to be available in New Hanover County, Onslow County, and Pender Brunswick County to provide monthly pet food donations to house-bound Senior Citizens.
